Join Gateway on Monday, May 22 at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club as we team up with the NFL Alumni Association to help fund meaningful and breakthrough pediatric cancer clinical trials.
Every foursome will include an NFL Alumni player and will each compete for a chance to win a paid trip to play at the Super Bowl of Golf. We are excited to welcome the following players: Dez Clark, Andre Brown, Bob Prout, Brent Novoselsky, Jim “Robocop” Thorton, Tim Tyrrell and Otis Wilson! Most importantly, though, the money raised will fund clinical trials that provide better treatment options to help save lives and improve quality of life for children with cancer.
One such groundbreaking Gateway-funded clinical trial, led by Dr. Weili Sun of the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, is providing hope for children battling acute myeloid leukemia (AML), the second most common form of leukemia in children.
|
While long term survival of children with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has improved, children who experience a relapse are more resistant to additional treatments because they develop drug resistance.
Dr. Sun’s trial is the first pediatric study to test the concept of epigenetic intervention with chemotherapy in children with AML. Epigeneticists study how turning on and off parts of the DNA sequence (instead of changing the actual sequence) affects how a cell functions. Because of Dr. Sun's Gateway-funded trial, seven children’s lives have been saved.
With your help, even more young lives can be saved. 99 cents of every dollar Gateway receives from this event directly funds breakthrough research for
pediatric cancer. To register your foursome TODAY, please
