Gateway's Impact Measurement to be Highlighted at NORDP 2017 Annual Research Development Conference

We are pleased to announce that Domarina Oshana, Ph.D., Gateway’s Director of Research and Grants, has been selected as a presenter at the upcoming National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP) annual conference in Colorado.

The NORDP conference will run from May 8-10, 2017. Dr. Oshana’s presentation is scheduled for May 10 from 10:15-11:15am, and is titled: "One Grantmaking Organization's Approach to Impact Measurement."

This presentation describes Gateway's framework for measuring and reporting the impact of its investments in cancer clinical trials. It highlights Gateway's clinical trials funding program that funds innovative cancer research focused on saving the lives of cancer patients TODAY! 

Primarily, the presentation will provide a narrative of how Gateway’s impact framework was developed, what it includes by way of outcomes, indicators, data sources, and collection methods, and the progress made collecting data to support Gateway’s impact. The presentation will close with a summary of lessons learned and feedback from the field. As takeaways from the presentation, the audience will be provided with Gateway’s funding guidelines and impact report. 

This presentation aims to engage Research Development Professionals who support cancer clinical investigators in identifying and applying for grants to fund early phase clinical research.

About Domarina Oshana, Ph.D., Gateway Director of Grants and Research

Domarina Oshana, Ph.D., is a social sciences research professional with experience in the design, analysis, administration, and management of research and evaluation programs and projects in education, public health, and the social sciences. In her role at Gateway for Cancer Research, Dr. Oshana advances research development activities that provide a pathway for funding breakthrough treatments aimed at conquering cancer. Dr. Oshana received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She received her Master of Arts in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, and her Ph.D. in Research Methodology from Loyola University Chicago.  Dr. Oshana has contributed to and/or presented at 4 national, 2 State conferences, and 4 online events.  She has also authored numerous working papers and technical assistance resources.


About the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP)

NORDP was established in 2010 as part of a grassroots movement to build a community of Research Development professionals driven to enhance the research enterprise at their institutions. The organization grew from an informal network of individuals engaged in research development activities at universities and research institutions across the United States and is now more than 800 members strong, representing a diverse set of institutions and sectors, and including RD professionals from multiple countries from around the globe.
